Wabash Cannonball Trail

Long Rides

June, 2024 by drrsg8g8fg

I live close to Fallen Timbers and pick up both the north and south paths often and I have road the whole south trail a couple times. I ride both a full suspension and no suspension mountain bikes from the early 2000s. Either is adequate for the parts of the trail I’ve road on. I find the trail beautiful. I’d like to make it out to Montpelier but have only made it just past the detour between Delta and Wauseon. The posted detour has you going about 4-5 miles on county roads. This is very dangerous. I would not recommend as the traffic is very fast and if cars come from both directions you have to get off and the off often ends up in a ditch and not easy. I’ve found it better to just continue on the path and avoid the detour. But this places you along the railroad tracks and it’s very difficult to ride. They are active tracks also and trains will come by. Riding on the trail though the detour is possible but rough and the part that goes over the tracks and along them is not marked well. It took some exploring to figure it out. I can’t speak for the trail after wauseon to Montpelier as I haven’t made it that far but the parts I’ve road are a great path for all day riding. You will have to cross streets along the way so you will have starting stopping.

Nice paved trail along the river; across a railroad bridge; thru town; around Hospital and several lakes/ponds.

The length of the Pufferbelly Trail should be updated to somewhere between eight and 9 miles now that the northern section is complete all the way to Fitch Rd.,

Slippery Elm Trail

Slippery Elm

September, 2023 by lyndonloewen

What a relaxing ride! This was my first “big” ride on my Recumbent bike. It was easy to navigate, smooth and well marked. There’s several distance options you can choose from to ride, walk or jog. I would recommend the Slippery Elm for families or just soloists.

Warrior Trail

first review!

August, 2023 by lunanoiz

Short little straight stretch that is very nicely paved. Not much on the scenery unless you like cornfields. I supplemented the trail by riding around in the sleepy lil town of Ohio City. It’s very much a little town… Not a city. Ohio City. Them folks must’ve stayed up all night to think of that one.

Wabash & Erie Canal Towpath Trail

short n sweet but stinky

August, 2023 by lunanoiz

Nice enough little trail that’s very well-maintained. There’s a beautiful wooden walkway that crosses some lovely marshlands & fields. unfortunately, it sits right by a busy highway. Would’ve given this trail four stars but had to demote one star because it stinks. Literally. There was a lingering smell the whole time and once I got towards the end of the trail, I found the culprit. A giant sewage treatment plant. I had to turn around and ride back upwind of that nasty mofo and by the time I finally passed it I felt like I like I inhaled all of Fort Wayne‘s butt fumes. Most unpleasant. ¿

Fishing Line Trail

Was on this trail for the first time and definitely won't be my last time. This tree covered trail is beautiful and definitely not busy. The asphalt trail is very smooth for cyclists. And the amount of Porta potties is a plus.

Rieke Park Trail

Great trail.

July, 2023 by vboyddevine

This trail is really nice. It's paved and very well-kept. The park in front of the trail is also a very nice park with pavilions and lots of sports activities and clean bathrooms. If you take the trail north of the park you can use sidewalks to connect to the DeKalb trail. If you take the trail south of the park you can end up in town and also go on an adjoining path to the reike park lodge and pond. It was a great trail that was very wide and pretty.

Angola Trail

Pokagon State park to Commons park

July, 2023 by johnberger113

Great trail especially riding e-bikes since part of the trail is hilly. Ice cream, yogurt, and food found along the way. Riding to Commons park puts you just east of downtown Angola. Very clean restrooms at the park. Check out this link to watch my ride of the trail https://youtu.be/BSH6-eiC3kQ
